Find a Date in Seven Days

Want to Find a Date? Try These Seven Days of Dating Tips

Feb 11, 2007 Bonny Albo

Seven days of chock full of dating tips for people who want to find a date fast.

Want to find a date? You're not alone. Millions of others, just like you, are trying to find a date too. The problem, however, lies in actually meeting people. The question is: How?

The suggestions that follow are meant to increase your chances of meeting The One (or even The One Right Now if that's more your speed) by increasing the amount of people you meet in a seven day period. Akin to landing the perfect job, trying to find a date requires a bit of creativity and time, but the rewards are always worth it in the end. And although some of these dating tips may be familiar, others may be just what you've been looking for.

Day One Dating Tip: Find a Date by Smiling

It may sound trite, but smiling works. Smile at everyone - and I mean everyone - that you encounter today, without judgement. It could be the mailman, the guy in the cubicle next to you, the lady on the street begging for change. The clincher, however, isn't that you merely smile, but you dazzle the recipient (again every person you encounter) with a beamer of genuine happiness. Like attracts like, and you'll be surprised by the response you receive.

Day Two Dating Tip: Find a Date By Networking

Have you ever asked your friends to help you find a date? Do your coworkers or family members know you are in need of dating tips? These people can be your ticket to find a date, if only because they know you better than anyone else. Don't even think that you'll be imposing by asking, either: most of your acquaintances probably already have someone in mind! They are merely waiting for you to ask. Spend today letting your closest and dearest know you're trying to find a date and see what happens.

Day Three Dating Tip: Find a Date by Accepting All Invitations

You may have to peek around a bit for this suggestion to work, but keep it in mind all week nonethless. If someone asks you to join them socially - accept. The only caveat here is if this person is a proven threat to you. Otherwise, all bets are off. If the courier that stops by your desk every days asks you if you'd like to step out for a quick coffee - go. Your company is having a lunch-hour seminar? Attend. Receive an invitation to attend a gallery opening or movie screening? Make plans to get there and just do it.

Day Four Dating Tip: Find a Date by Creating an Online Profile

Don't have an online dating profile set up yet? Or, have you got one but haven't updated it since your last breakup? Day four should be spent putting your name out there, making yourself available to the slew of netziens also looking to find a date. Don't want to spend any cash to find The One? Day Five Dating Tip: Find a Date By Doing a 180

Think of what you've been doing to find a date up until this seven-day challenge. Now, do the exact opposite. That could mean hitting a dance club by yourself, buying a coffee for the attractive person behind you in line at the coffee shop, getting a bartender to pass your business card along to some interesting, starting up a conversation with a stranger at the library dawdling in the same section as you or... you tell me. What would be different for you? Do it.

Day Six Dating Tip: Find a Date by Joining a Club

What is it that you love more than anything? Find a club, group or social outlet that supports this love, and you'll meet many new people that share the same interests - a great first step towards your find a date challenge. Some ideas include cooking, sports, alumni associations, philanthropic organizations and political or environmental groups. Even if no one takes your fancy at day one, stick with it anyway. You never know who you'll meet (see Day Two) eventually.

Day Seven Dating Tip: Review Your Find a Date Strategies

Today is for rest. Give yourself a pat on the back! You may well have already exceeded your find a date challenge, but if not, evaluate what you enjoyed and what worked. What, out of all of these dating tips, were the most successful? Who, out of all of the people you met, are you going to reconnect with again?

By reviewing your progress you will know what you need to find a date for the future, and can use these dating tips at any time to increase your odds dramatically. Now get out there and start going on some dates!
