Should you pay for a first date? Talk about where the relationship is going? Here are some first date tips especially for women.

If you're not getting asked out for a second date, maybe your first date etiquette is to blame. Many women don't realize that while you're looking at your date and wondering if he'd be a good husband, he's getting bored because you're not part of the conversation. Translation? He won't ask you out for a second round.

The key to a great first date is simply focusing on the moment and paying attention to your man. Here are some more tips for making your first date the best it can possibly be.

Expect Him to Pay

First dates should always be at place where both people meet and pay for their own coffee (or meal). As the two of you begin to date, then the guy should pay for your dates. But on the very first outing, pick up the tab for yourself.

Arrive More Than Ten Minutes Late

It’s natural for women to get to a date a tad bit late, but if you’re more than ten minutes tardy it’s downright rude. After all, the guy you’re meeting is nervous and if you allow him to check his watch for too long, he’ll think you’re not interested.

Dress Inappropriately

Ideally you should wear an outfit that resembles business casual. Don’t put on too much makeup or dress too provocatively. Aim for a more reserved look the first time you meet. If the two of you decide to go out again, then you can glam it up a bit more.

Size the Guy Up for Marriage

First dates should be about getting to know your date, not about thinking too far into the future. So instead of daydreaming on whether or not your guy would make good marriage material, pay attention to the way you feel when you’re with him. Think about whether or not you want to see him one more time for another date.

Bring Up Exes

Exes are a huge no-no for any first date conversation. Focus on your date and don’t worry about your past. Too often women feel the need to unload about the past boyfriend who did you wrong, but first dates aren’t the time for it. Wait until you’ve dated a few times, and you’ll find that there is a natural time when the subject of exes comes up for both of you.

Talk About Your Expectations for a Relationship

When you’re talking with your date, try to find out about him and what makes him tick. First dates aren’t the time to ask him where the relationship is going, for the simple reason that the two of you don’t have a relationship yet!

First dates can make or break a relationship. Show up late and dress poorly and that could be the last time you see your guy. Talk about where the relationship is headed and you might never hear from him again, either.

Instead of worrying about the future, remember that the whole reason your guy wanted to take you out was to see if the two of you would enjoy yourselves. So show him that fun side that leaves him wanting more.
