How to Ensure the Future With a New Boyfriend

On the most significant "date night"of the year, make memories with a new boyfriend.

Although it is essential for the continuation of any relationship to spend New Year’s Eve together, it is not entirely up to the boyfriend to propose the date. In fact, most men are as nervous about New Year’s Eve as women are, and they sometimes forgo asking because they are afraid of hearing no. They’re afraid because New Years is, without question, the most significant date of the year. More proposals, weddings, and consummation of relationships take place on this date than any other day.

Women Take the Initiative on New Year’s Eve

So, by December 26th, if a man hasn’t asked a woman what she’s doing on New Year’s Eve, she should ask him. If he turns her down, she can stop taking his phone calls. If he doesn’t want to spend New Year’s Eve with her, he’s got another, more important date; even if both are still playing the field, if he doesn’t choose a particular woman for New Year’s Eve, she’s so behind the eight ball, she may as well just forget him.

Keep it Simple on New Year’s Eve

On New Year’s Eve, the rule of thumb is – the bigger the date, the longer the wait – for anything significant to happen. If a boyfriend is splurging on one of those overnight New Year’s Eve packages at a fancy hotel, complete with champagne, dinner, a party, and noise blowers, he’s more interested in the party than he is in his date. In fact, he may use such a lavish New Year’s Eve date as a kiss off by breaking up on New Year’s Day.

Meaningful end of the year parties don’t entail cocaine snorting drunken revelries. Drinking at home with friends and playing Trivial Pursuit or Monopoly is a lot more fun. One of the best New Year’s parties can be a bubble bath for two. Another great party idea entails grilling steaks, and watching an old movie, such as the Time Machine (which book would he take two million years into the future?).

What to Wear on New Year’s Eve

Splurge on fancy lingerie rather than a fancy dress on New Year’s Eve. Even if a couple doesn’t drink, going out is risky; AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) refers to New Year’s as “amateur night.” Most men would prefer to stay home and relax until the stroke of midnight when they get down to business with a New Year’s kiss.

If a New Year's Eve date ticks by like a millenium, if a couple fights, or flirts with other people, the relationship is better off remembered instead of renewed. If, on the other hand, a couple wakes up together on New Year’s Day, after a wonderful evening together, the future year is likely to bring about all of their relationship resolutions.
