Though many unhappy single women jokingly refer to February 14th as Singles Awareness Day, happily single women can sincerely enjoy Valentine's Day with these tips.

These three date ideas celebrate self-love for artists and other creative women, for those who are missing their childhood or feeling too uptight and stressed out in their life, and for those who want the romance without the hassle of a partner to please. It's easy to enjoy these dates alone, and to go as all out or as relaxed as the individual wants to do.

The Creative Date

This is the date for women who consider themselves artists or creative types – the only hard and fast rule is that this date cannot be work! For professional artists, the key is to put away the current project for work or school and to try something new and fun, something that can be done in a day.

Some ideas include spending the day doing a photography project like a collage of the photographer's favorite things, hunkering down in a coffee shop and writing a short story about an absurd romance, having a dance-a-thon in the living room to a favorite CD, composing an original song (or recording an original version of someone else's), finding a prime outdoor spot for sketching or painting, or just taking a guitar outside and playing in the park.

Those who are nervous about creating but still enjoy their artsy side can go see a play or a musical or dance performance, or call it an inspiration day and spend the afternoon people-watching, assembling a scrapbook of favorite quotes, or cutting out beautiful pictures from magazines to stick all over a workspace.

The Kid-Again Date

For this date, the challenge is to let go of the adult self, whatever that means to the individual woman, and have fun getting back to childhood – whether actual or idealized. One way to do this might be going to the art store and getting fingerpaints, crayons, glitter, or any sort of whacky decorative accessories to work on a fabulously messy project. Another is to play dress-up with the craziest clothes possible, or even go to goodwill and buy some really cheap stuff for an evening photo shoot. Or it can just mean picking up a favorite childhood pastime, whether that's a trip to the ice rink, swinging on the swings at a local park, baking gooey chocolate cupcakes, or climbing trees.

The Romantic Date

This last date is for women who are happily single, but also love romance. There's no reason not to take oneself on a romantic date! The first step is to dress up in whatever way feels sexy and comfortable to the individual, whether that's super sophisticated with makeup and high heels, a flowing hippie skirt and bangles with absolutely no shaving of the legs, or a suit and tie. Next, pick a small space such as the dining room table and decorate it to taste, perhaps with a tablecloth and some candles. Make a favorite meal, even if it doesn't seem very "fancy," and don't forget dessert! This can go along with some sexy music or a romantic film after dinner, or just a nice, luxurious bubble bath to unwind.

With these ideas, anyone can enjoy fun and romance on Valentine's Day even without a partner! And if none of these dates appeal, check out some great Valentine's dates for athletic, urban, and nerdy women.
